I know the blog title seems a little morbid and sinister, but this blog is all about our family's upkeep of our Mortgage which by French definition litrally means "death pledge". A contract til death or full payment. So dont worry its not some crazy suicide pact! (sorry emo kids, carry on)
Hopefully this blog is a way to keep us on track to getting our new house and then proceeding to smash down the debt and I hope to be able to share our thoughts, tips, feelings and stresses along the way.
So a little about my family. My wife and I have 2 small kids (4.5 and 1 years old) and live in a small 2 bedroom unit in the Yarra Ranges of Victoria, Australia. We have been married for over 10 years and were both in our 30's.
My wife is a stay at home mum and I work full time as an IT professional. My salary is good but we are just a single income family and have been since the kids arrived.
At this stage in life we find ourselves bringing plans to upgrade our house forward due to our neighbors potential to subdivide blocks of land all around us and sell them off to developers. its already started. We cant blame them, when we bought our unit we knew it was inevitable but we were hoping it was going to be a few more years down the track. Plus we knew we would need more space for the kids to roam and a place to study when they got older. A move was always on the cards its just coming sooner.
Our stresses are just beginning.....
